No Experience? No Problem!
Join us in our Band Basics workshop designed specifically for beginners. Whether you're starting your musical journey or exploring a second instrument, this course is the perfect chance to grow your skills and experience the thrill of playing in a band for the first time! Over the course of 8 weeks, you'll sharpen your skills, master the essentials of playing in a band, build confidence, and prepare for an exciting, low pressure, live-streamed performance for the Music Makers community. Along with weekly rehearsals, for a small additional fee you can add a 30-minute private lesson each week to further hone your skills ensuring you're fully prepared and confident for every rehearsal!
Transform Your Practice: Go Beyond Solo Sessions
Being part of a band means understanding how to listen to the other musicians, communicate musically, and contribute to a cohesive sound. It’s not just about playing the notes correctly—it’s about syncing up with others to create something greater than the sum of its parts. As you develop these skills, you’ll gain confidence not only as a musician but also as a team player, which is vital in any musical setting—whether it’s for performances, jam sessions, or even songwriting.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll not only have the technical skills needed to play your instrument, but also the experience of operating as part of a musical unit. This is what makes performing in a band such a special and dynamic experience—and it’s something you’ll carry with you into every musical project you take on in the future!
What’s Included?
Beginner-Friendly Lesson Plan – Our experienced Musical Directors will guide you through the setlist at a comfortable pace, breaking it down into manageable parts. Learning a few songs at a time ensures that the process is never intimidating. You’ll feel confident and successful as you progress, and by the end of eight weeks, you'll be amazed at how much you’ve accomplished, both individually and as part of the group.
Band Dynamics – Learn how to play as a group, communicate musically, and blend with other instruments. Develop confidence in the language of music while building connections with fellow musicians.
Low-Pressure Performance – Put your hard work into action with a fun, supportive in-house live-stream performance! It’s a great way to celebrate your progress and experience the excitement of playing live.
Guidance by Experienced Music Directors - Throughout the workshop, you’ll be under the guidance of talented and experienced music directors who are passionate about helping you take your playing to the next level. They’ll provide expert instruction, offer personalized feedback, and support you as you navigate the dynamics of playing in a band, ensuring you make real progress every step of the way.
Additional Options:
Optional Weekly Private Lessons – In addition to weekly rehearsals, you can choose to add a 30-minute private lesson each week to refine your skills. These lessons will help you feel prepared and confident for every rehearsal, giving you the extra support you need to play at your best!
