Music Makers NY's Premier Adult Band Ensemble Program will enhance your understanding of how a band works. We’ll break down each song in detail, stretch out, learn beginnings & endings, and refine solos, rhythms, patterns & leads. You’ll gain control over sound and technique, go over individual parts & combine them to create a better band sound. Learn different ways to approach a song while gaining confidence as a player. Play & learn from an advanced-level instructor. Each participant receives access to our student portal where you'll be able to access all class materials.

Are you feeling good about your playing but haven’t had much experience playing with other folks?
Time to kick into second gear! STEP ON IT! is a perfect opportunity for you to explore your musicianship in a relaxed, beginner-minded setting—now graduated to the next level! Hang out with other easy-going and kind adults with the shared intention of making beautiful music.
Weekly band rehearsals focus on music selection, arrangement, and refinement with opportunities to collaborate, experiment, and have fun.
STEP ON IT! will aim to explore rock n’ roll in all of its eras, decades, and styles. The group will drive the ultimate sonic direction of the workshop, in hopes of touring from 50’s rockabilly, 60’s folk rock, 70’s blues rock, 80’s glam, and 90’s alternative!
The band can even focus on just one or two of these decades and build medleys out of them—you and your band get to decide!
This workshop is open to Beginner+, meaning some experience with bands is necessary.
Bands may include (but not limited to): Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, Roy Orbison, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Buffalo Springfield, The Band, Joan Baez, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Cream, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Allman Brothers Band, David Bowie, Bon Jovi, The Police, Billy Idol, ZZ Top, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Oasis, Beck, and Foo Fighters.

Take a trip back to the buzzing neon glow of the 1980s!
Dive into the pulsating rhythms and innovative sounds of the New Wave movement in this exhilarating workshop! Participants will embark on a voyage through the vibrant landscape of New Wave music, exploring the diverse array of artists and their unique contributions to the genre. From the synth-driven melodies of Depeche Mode to the edgy punk-infused riffs of Blondie, your band will get to explore the groundbreaking, electric innovations and unconventional grooves that defined this iconic era.
Artist inspirations include Depeche Mode, The Cure, Talking Heads, Blondie, New Order, Duran Duran, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Smiths, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Police, Pet Shop Boys, Tears for Fears, OMD, Human League, A Flock of Seagulls, Gary Numan, Soft Cell, The B-52's, XTC, The Psychedelic Furs, Adam and the Ants, and Simple Minds.

While 1967's Summer of Love is widely celebrated, this workshop is here to uncover the musical gems that graced the airwaves throughout the more unsung summers of the entire decade. From surf rock to psychedelia to Beatlemania, participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in blissful melodies and hypnotic grooves that defined an entire generation. So dust off your bell bottoms, grab your shades, and celebrate the enduring legacy of '60s music and the Summers of Love!
