Bob Elliott’s Music Makers is, in the spirit of blazing new trails in the realm of Music Making workshops, offering a new workshop that is unlike any other we have offered in our long, storied history. WNYC Radio’s “All Of It With Alison Stewart” is having a contest to see who can most creatively interpret any song from the public domain. This means any song published from 1927 or earlier qualify. We are offering a workshop that will select one of these songs. The workshop will then come up with a different arrangement/interpretation for the given song selection, rehearse the song, and then record the song here at our studio in order to submit the song as an entry into the contest. And then WHO KNOWS what may happen? This workshop should be viewed as more of an exercise in song interpretation creativity and collaboration with bandmates as an engaging step forward on your musical development journey. The musical director will take idea suggestions from participants and provide the ultimate creative direction of the interpretation and arrangement based upon the specific instrumentation and ability level of the participants. This workshop will be (3) sessions with the first used to establish a direction. The second will be a firm rehearsal and the third will be a recording session of the song. Open to all instruments and vocals! All participants will receive a copy of the finished recording.

Bob Elliott and Music Makers NY presents… THE PRODUCER SERIES: Cutting Tracks with Bob Held
In an 8-9 week course, The Producer Series: Cutting Tracks with Bob Held takes a limited and exclusive group of participants through production from concept to finished product – a professionally recorded single. With an original song chosen from demos created by one of the participants by award-winning producer Bob Held (whose extensive credits include such luminary artists as KISS, Alice Cooper, and Joe Bonamassa), this course provides the opportunity to fully experience and participate in the recording process. You’ll experience the challenges of recording on a timeline, you’ll work through the insecurities of recording your parts, and you’ll experience the excitement of hearing how amazing you sound as part of a well-rehearsed group led by a professional producer and, finally, you’ll be thrilled when you hear the completed product.
Bob will lead the band through each step of the process, from preproduction, where you’ll learn the overall song to arranging each part to best serve the song, to the actual recording, where you’ll see the intricacies of how a recording is layered to create the finished product.
At the end of this course, you will leave with not only a professionally produced recording that you can share with your friends and family, but also one that you can confidently release to the world. You will have gained invaluable experience, whether this gives you the inspiration to try your hand at writing music or simply gives you the confidence and experience to record some of your favorite songs with you as the artist. And, as with all of Music Makers workshops, you’ll be a part of a team and build friendships with like-minded creative people that will last a lifetime.
Course Breakdown:
* 2-3 weeks (2-hour sessions) – Preproduction rehearsals with your producer instructing every instrument on the parts you will play during the recording sessions
* 5-6 weeks (depending on the instrumentation – 2-hour sessions) - Recording sessions with each instrument individually tracked with the producer guiding you, with all members attending to see and learn the process
This is a chance to experience the real deal of creating music the way that the pros do it with a pro at the helm.
Sign up now and don’t miss out on the most exciting course we’ve ever offered.
